How to vote
Voting is a fundamental part of our democracy. Here’s what you need to know to make sure your vote is counted.
Need to know
- You can register online.
- You need to be 18 years or older on election day, but you can pre-register if you are 16 or 17 years old.
- If you recently moved to San Rafael or changed your name, you need to re-register.
Deadlines
The deadline to register is 15 days before an election. If it’s less than 15 days before an election, use Same-Day Voter Registration to request your ballot in person at the Marin County elections office or your polling location.
Where to vote
By mail
Make sure it is mailed with enough time to be post marked on or before Election Day.
In-person
- Any voting center in Marin County
- Return your ballot to an official drop box
